WaterBlock

“Excess Water Flow Shutoff System”

WaterBlock Washing Machine Safety Hose Set

WaterBlock now has a products called Washing Machine Safety Hose. This is a dual action, hose within a hose, system that works to prevent damage from a leaking or burst water hose or a malfunctioning machine valve.

If the reinforced, inner hose springs a leak, the water is contained in the outer, secondary hose. At the same time, the presence of water in the secondary hose causes a valve to close so the water is turned off. The other half of the dual action is the WaterBlock unit that is included with the set. If the machine water valve fails to shut off, instead of over-filling the machine and causing more damage, the WaterBlock valve turns off, avoiding more damage.

WaterBlock WB-13 Features and Benefits

2 of the WaterBlock WB-13  are included with the hose sets; one for each hose, hot and cold. These are set by the installer to the water usage specifications of the machine, to shut off if the water runs longer than it should. The maximum gallons for each can not exceed 13 gallons per cycle during normal operation.

For example, today’s HE machines typically use less than 5 gallons of water per cycle. So for that machine, the WaterBlock units can be set at 5 gallons. If the machine valve fails to shut off, the volume will exceed the 5 gallon setting and the WaterBlock valve will shut off.

  • Automatic operation for a “set it and forget it” installation.
  • Requires NO electrical power. Water flowing through it is all that’s needed.
  • Suitable for both hot (158° F) and cold water.
  • Allows flow in increments of 1 to 13 gallons, which is set at time of installation. Each of 10 settings is 1.3 gallons.
  • Automatically resets after every normal run cycle unless the preset limit has been reached.
  • WaterBlock must be mounted vertically with flow direction either up or down.
  • Water Flow Rate: Minimum 1 GPM, Maximum 7.9 GPM.
  • WaterBlock Valve and Reset Module Connections: 3/4″ Garden Hose.
  • WaterBlock WB-13 Length: 3-1/2”
  • Expected Life: Approximately 80,000 gallons total volume before replacing.

Installation is fairly simple and straight forward, and can be done with a minimal amount of expertise and few, if any tools other than your hands and possibly a pair of pliers.

The instructions attempt to cover most of the many potential configurations that you may encounter as you install this system. It is mostly like replacing the existing set of hoses with these hoses and WaterBlock units.
